Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her, at least in the eyes of America, into the class of child prodigies. It was an innate characteristic for a girl who was of Irish descent, that was surrounded during her early days by talented family members and parents. Maureen was welcomed into this cherished sanctuary in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th, 1920. Marguerita LIlburn FitzSimons is her mom. She was a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based company and was the owner of a portion in "The Shamrock Rovers" an eminent Irish soccer squad. Maureen was the third of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen was a fan of rough and athletic games as a child and was a pro in athletics. In addition to this her talent, she also had a knack to act. As evidenced by winning pretty much every Feis award for drama and performances in the theater that her nation offered. By age 14 she was invited to the highly acclaimed Abbey Theater and pursued her dreams of classical theatre and operatic singing.
